June 23, 2019

First off when I ordered my needed parts to repair the Weed Wacker it told me to expect the parts by 6/27/19 (I ordered on 6/16/19) I got one order 6/18/19 and the other 6/21/19 which blew my mind because I was not expecting to get so early so I was able the repair over the weekend. All parts fit perfectly and easy to install the cost was reasonable and it works like it should. Great experience.

The best thing to do is take the spark plug out. Pull the piston down to the bottom of its stroke. Stuff a 5/16 rope down the spark plug hole to fill up the cylinder. This will help hold the crank shaft from turning with out damaging the piston while you break the clutch part lose and unscrew it off the crank shaft(left hand thread). After that screw on the new clutch, pull the rope out, put the spark plug back in and put the housing back together. Prime it up, crank it up. 30 minutes tops. Like my Social Security Check, not much to it.

Weedwacker replacement clutch
May 16, 2018

Lot of dis-assembly to get to part to assess problem. Spring tail had broken and allowed the outer clutch to jump out of retainer plate and jam the drive. Replacement part was significantly smaller in diameter , assume design change. Had to heat the clutch core screwed to engine to remove, very tight. Assembly was simple, reversal of take down. Engine started immediately and the trimmer is as good as new. Needed star drive long shaft for screws.
