Gas valve and temperature control assembly 6911131 supplies the burner with fuel to heat the water. The temperature control thermostat controls the gas valve.

Replace the gas valve assembly if the indicator light blinks continuously 5 times or 7 times between 3-second pauses.

A service technician is recommended for this repair because the gas supply line connections must be checked for leaks after the repair.

Do yourself a favor , drain the tank while reading instructions, the shorter the hose the faster the drain time. flush the tank for extra piece of mind. You will enjoy hot water in no time like a Cave man that just figured out how to make fire.

Takes some experience with plumbing.

Installing this part requires the installer to have some plumbing experience with iron pipe installs and handling compression fittings. It would be easy for a novice to damage the new part.

With the proper tools, it takes about 20 minutes to install. It takes much longer to drain the hot water tank than the swap out the part.
