Troubleshooting problems with your Panasonic microwave

• Won't power up. Make sure that the power cord is plugged fully into the electrical outlet. Check the electrical outlet for power by plugging a small appliance into the outlet. Reset the house circuit breaker for the outlet if the outlet is dead.

  Check the power cord for damage. Unplug the microwave and have a service technician replace the power cord if it's damaged.

  If the power cord is okay, then a wiring failure, bad electronic control board, blown fuse or faulty control panel could be preventing the microwave from powering up.

• Exhaust fan won't run. Unplug the microwave and check the exhaust fan wiring. Reconnect any loose wires and replace any broken wires. If the wiring is okay, you may need to replace the exhaust fan because its motor failed.

• Turntable won't rotate. Check the control settings because many Panasonic microwaves have a control feature that turns off turntable rotation. Follow the directions in your owner's manual to set turntable controls. If the turntable control feature is set properly, then a failed turntable motor may be preventing the turntable from moving. Replace the turntable motor if it doesn't run when it receives current from the control.

• Won't heat food. Check the control settings to make sure you have the correct power level set. If the power level is set correctly, a failed electronic control board, blown fuse or bad magnetron could be preventing the microwave from heating food.

• Door switch. The door switch is the device that is pushed in when you close the microwave door. It lets microwave control components know that the door has been shut and that the microwave can be safely started.
• Thermal fuse or thermal cut out. The thermal fuse (also known as the thermal cut out) is a critical safety device in the microwave that prevents the microwave from overheating.
• Cooling fan. The cooling fan blows air across the controls to keep the circuit boards from overheating.
• Electronic control board. The electronic control board monitors sensors and controls microwave heating.
