Well worth doing it yourself
I needed to replace the old basket that was 22 years old. I purchased a spanner tool for the spanner nut that holds the basket in place. The basket was "crud welded" to the spindle from years of build up, so I used a gear puller to pull the basket loose from the spindle. Once off, I cleaned the built up crud on the spindle and the outer tub. Once everything was cleaned up, the new basket was easily installed and the spanner nut tightened with the tool. I took my time and the clock showed about an hour of work. I did take an extra 1/2 hour to clean off all the parts and outer tub. The machine looks and runs like new!

Long wait time - Easy install
My husband installed this in less than an hour, along with a new pump. But he's done this often. Great to have, basically, a new machine!

It's what you'd expect
The tub was pretty much identical to the original in our 1992 Kenmore. One difference is that the 4 lower holes in the tub are too small to use the lint filter insert plugs. The original tub had larger holes that would have worked with the plugs but it was being replaced due rust. So I had to forgo the use of any lint filter in the wash and just reply on the dryer. The tub arrived undamaged (thank you UPS) in about four days.

Great Replacement Part
Part was an exact fit for my washer. The existing lint trap did not work with the new drum but I could have purchased lint traps from Sears Parts Direct if I wanted. I had a couple of scratches on the exterior of the drum in the paint. I thought about sending it back, but just painted over them instead. I didn't want to wait on receiving a replacement. Hopefully it will not rust there. Interior finish looked good.
