Common parts that fail in Weatherking air handlers

  • Blower fan motor. The blower fan motor spins the blower wheel to circulate air through the evaporator and into your home. You'll need to replace the blower fan motor if it's getting current but won't run.
  • Evaporator coils. Evaporator coils are part of the heat exchange system. These coils remove heat from the air. If the coils are dirty or damaged, they'll need to be cleaned or replaced to work properly.
  • Thermostat. The thermostat detects the temperature inside your home and turns the air handler and air conditioner or heater on and off to maintain the set temperature inside your home. You'll need to replace the thermostat if it isn't detecting temperature properly or it isn't turning on the air handler and air conditioner or heater.
  • Air filter. The air filter removes fine particulates from the air to protect the internal components of the air handler and helps improve the air quality inside your home. If the filter is too dirty, then it may restrict air flow and will need to be replaced.

What to do when your Weatherking air handler won't move air

  • Check the air filter. A clogged air filter won't let any air go through the air handler. Replace the air filter if it's dirty.
  • Check the vent grill. A blocked or dirty return air vent grill can inhibit air flow through the air handler. Move any items stacked in front of the return vent grill. Clean the vent grill if it's dirty.
  • Check the house circuit breaker. If the air handler blower motor isn't running at all, reset the house circuit breaker for the hair handler. If the motor still doesn't run, you'll likely need to have a service technician examine and repair the air handler.
