Replacing a broken shear pin in your MTD electric snowblower

  • Unplug the snowblower power cord to disconnect electrical power.
  • Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
  • Remove the broken shear pin, using a hammer and nail to completely clear the hole of any pieces.
  • Realign the holes in the auger and the shaft. Insert the new shear pin and secure it with the bow tie pin.

How to replace the skid shoe on your MTD electric snowblower

  • Unplug the snowblower power cord to disconnect electrical power.
  • Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
  • Loosen and remove skid shoe mounting nuts. Pull the skid shoe off of the housing.
  • Position the new skid shoe on the mounting bolts and finger tighten the nuts.
  • Place corrugated cardboard under the scraper blade to hold the blade about ¼-inch off the ground. Lower the skid shoe so that it contacts the ground. Tighten the mounting nuts with the ½-inch wrench.
