Fairly easy to install after taking to machine shop to thread 4 bolt holes.

Not a replacement
I have a Craftsman Model 917.986410 three year old lawn tractor. I needed to replace the mandrels because the start shape that holds the blades in place had worn off. I looked at the online parts list and it said it was no longer available. I called and was told this is the replacement part. When it came it is not. The original part bolt holes are threaded. These are not. Also the original mandrel end is threaded to put the blade on. These are not. So basically a three year old Craftsman lawn tractor is obsolete and no replacement parts. I had to leave a star and amount of time to install. But it would not let me leave a zero and impossible.

Relatively easy to install
Cut the threads for the bolts before installing on the mower deck. Drive pulley and blade attachment assembly are easy to swap. Take the time to sharpen your blades, because Lord knows, if you broke the mandrel, you filled or dented the blade.
