Seems to work, big job.
This was a fairly big job. Youtube was a big help. The gear was way overpriced, but what are you going to do. Nobody repairs small engines anymore and Sears is gone. If you want to keep machines out of the landfill, you've got to do these jobs yourself. I'll know next winter if the repair holds.

This was the right size
Took about an hour to put everything back together. Ordered one from the competition and it was to big and a lot cheaper this is pretty expensive in my opinion but it fit fine

Intermediate DIY
Not a walk in park. Bell housing and augers need to be removed. Mine is an older unit. Needed Steel wool, proper grease and a few hours to do the job right. PS pay attention to auger, I had to do job twice because I put augers on backwards.

Worth the time to fix.
Fix it or throw away? I chose ro fix it. Took me over 3 hours to break down and remove the damaged worm gear. Things went faster putting it back together.
