Sears Push Mower Blade Adapter
I was able to identify the new blade adapter online and order per the part number. Thank you Sears for having the part number engraved on the part! It took about two minutes to secure the part to my mower and I was off and mowing the ditches.

Not entirely easy, but easier than I thought.
I assumed to be harder to install than it was, borrowed a puller, but the adapter fit was not as tight as I expected, so WD40 and a tug or two from the puller was all it took, and the new blade adapter went into place using only the mower blade and bolt to pull it down.

All is well that ends well..
Shipping issues delayed the delivery by several days but it worked perfectly on 17yr old craftsman mower. Thanks for listing the original part number! Lots of aftermarket parts on the web but came to sears because of the direct match on the old part.
