perfect fit

I ordered the fridge door gasket when i noticed the original was dry and cracking , my order arrived in 2 days excellent. i would recommend watching the diy video first because i did and still got to sweat doing this repair. finally it was installed easy the gasket was a perfect fit i get a little extra life for the fridge i brought for my mother's house. thanks sears parts dept. are the best anything you need they can get it to you! i strongly recommend to use the putty knife to get to the joint of the old seal.

Replacing a Refrigerator Door Gasket

Watched U-tube videos on line. Unplugged unit but did not remove door like instructions said. Started at top corners then pushed in gasket all along top, did bottom corners & bottom next, then did the 2 sides. Had a putty knife handy to get gentle leverage. Got the hang of it when I visually could see the magnetic strip was fully under lip of door. Give the gasket a day to "form" to door. Checked temperature next day and all is good

The gasket was very difficult to get on the door, especially underneath. Worked once we took all shelves out of refrigerator, then back wall of refrigerator buckled. Ended up buying new.

It's a struggle!

Begin at the bottom; finish at the top edge of the door. The edging is difficult to maneuver into the slot, and, at the corners, nearly impossible. When my fingertips have stopped hurting, I'll try getting the bottom edge done, and THEN work my way up to the top, where I HOPE it'll be easier to finish. Meanwhile, I hold my door closed with a heavy-duty Velcro flap/hasp.
