What to do when you see ice or water at the bottom of the freezer compartment in your Ikea side-by-side refrigerator

When the freezer in a side-by-side refrigerator defrosts, water drains down through a defrost tube into a drain pan and eventually evaporates. If the defrost drain tube is clogged with ice or gunk, the water can't drain down the tube. Instead, it collects in a puddle at the bottom of the freezer compartment and eventually freezes to ice. Clearing the drain tube usually fixes the problem. Replace the drain tube if it's damaged or you can't clear a clog.

Water leaking from the water ice maker system can also wind up at the bottom of the freezer compartment, so check water system tubing for leaks and replace any damaged tubes.

Diagnosing thermistor problems in your Ikea side-by-side refrigerator

If the fresh food section of your refrigerator isn’t cooling properly, you could have a problem with the appliance’s thermistor or temperature sensor. The electronic control board monitors the thermistor and controls the refrigerator temperature based on thermistor signals. A broken thermistor could send the wrong information to the control board, resulting in a refrigerator temperature that’s too cold or not cold enough.
