Top Homelite gas leaf blower parts that might need replacing

  • Air filter. The air filter is an absorbent foam rectangle that's mounted on the air intake to the carburetor. It filters the air that enters the carburetor before it mixes with the fuel.
  • Carburetor. The carburetor mixes air with fuel in the proper proportion to produce a combustible gas. That gas/air mixture then moves into the cylinder where it’s compressed by the piston and ignited by the spark plug.
  • Fan assembly. The fan assembly is connected to the crankshaft of the engine on a gas leaf blower or the motor shaft of an electric leaf blower. The engine crankshaft or motor shaft rotates the fan blades to produce the air flow through the leaf blower.
  • Fuel filter. The fuel filter attaches to the end of the fuel line inside the gas tank. It filters dirt and other particles from the fuel as gasoline moves from the fuel tank to the carburetor.
  • Recoil starter. The recoil starter is a starting system mounted to the engine that consists of a rope and spring-loaded pulley system. Pulling the starter rope rotates the spring-loaded pulley and spins the crankshaft to start the engine.

What to do when your Homelite leaf blower is leaking gas

Move the leaf blower to a well-ventilated area and check the fuel lines for cracks if your leaf blower leaks gas. Replace the fuel lines if they're cracked and leaking fuel.

If fuel leaks from the carburetor, rebuild or replace the carburetor to prevent gas from leaking. Replace the fuel tank cap if its seal is damaged and leaking. Check the fuel tank and replace if it's damaged.
