Steps for using your KitchenAid ice cream maker

1. Set your freezer temperature so its coldest setting (usually -5-degrees F) and allow the freezer to cool down to that temperature for 12 hours before inserting the freezer bowl in the freezer. Keep in mind that ice cream and other items stored in your freezer at that colder temperature will freezer rock hard.
2. Insert the freezer bowl into the freezer and leave the bowl in the freezer for at least 15 hours before making your ice cream.
3. Chill the custard in the refrigerator for several hours before making the ice cream.
4. Assemble the dasher on your mixer before installing the mixer bowl and pouring the custard into the bowl so you can lower the dasher and start churning the custard immediately after pouring the custard in the freezer bowl.
5. Use the lowest speed setting on your mixer to churn the custard.
