How to sharpen the blade on your MTD electric walk-behind lawn mower
Shut off the lawn mower and make sure the blade has stopped rotating. Remove the safety key and battery pack then remove the blade.
Tightly secure the cutting blade in a vise.
Wear work gloves to protect your hands and safety goggles to protect your eyes.
Carefully file the cutting edges of the blade with a fine tooth file or sharpening stone. Sharpen the blade at the original cutting angle.
Sharpen the cutting edges on both ends of the blade. File off equal amounts of the cutting blade edges from both ends so the blade remains balanced.
Check blade balance and continuing filing until the blade is properly balanced.
