Adjusting the reel blade position on your MTD reel walk-behind mower

  • Adjustments are made from the rear of the mower. Each end of the cutting bar can be adjusted separately to tighten or loosen the blade reel.
  • To loosen the blade reel, the cutter bar must be moved further from the cutting blade reel. Loosen both back screws equally by turning them counter clockwise. Tighten both front screws equally but turning them clockwise.
  • To tighten the cutting reel blade, the cutter bar must be moved closer to the cutting reel. Loosen both front screws equally by turning them counter clockwise. Tighten both back screws equally by turning the clockwise.
