Cleaning the media pads in your GE evaporative cooler

Shut off the house circuit breaker to disconnect electrical power for the evaporative cooler.
Remove the front cover mounting screws then pull off the front cover panel.
Remove the top panel mounting screws and remove the top panel.
Remove the distribution tube assembly and slide the media pads out of the evaporative cooler.
Wash the media pads thoroughly using a sprayer.
Reinstall the media pads and reassemble the evaporative cooler. Restore electrical power to the evaporative cooler.

Troubleshooting your GE evaporative cooler when it won't power up

Check the house circuit breaker for the evaporative cooler. Reset the house circuit breaker if it's tripped.
If the breaker isn't tripped, then a loose supply wiring connection could be preventing the evaporative cooler from getting power. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the evaporative cooler and check the supply wiring connections. Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken wires.
If the supply wiring is okay, check for continuity through the power switch using a multimeter (with electrical power still disconnected from the evaporative cooler). Replace the power switch if your meter measures no continuity through the power switch when the switch is in the on position.
