Did not take long at all. However, I did not use the new hose that came with the unit. I attached the existing hose to the new valve unit. I'm sure if I had to install a new hose it would have been a lot more difficult. Sears had step by step instructions to replace. What made me buy this part in the first place was my ice maker was not making ice. The ice maker was working but the tray was not filling with water after it cycled. Checked my line to see if it was frozen by blowing air though it after I disconnected it from the old unit, it wasn't frozen. Also read about he freezer having to be a certain temp for the ice maker to even work, not the issue, freezer was cold enough. Also checked for possible water pressure issue on the supply line but it seemed to be okay. So I thought it had to be this valve assembly by process of elimination. Tried to make sure of it because the part was not that cheap. Replacing the unit solved the problem.

I had no problme installing the valve assembly

The accomplishment of the repair steps was easy to understand. As in any first time job, there was a certain learning curve involved in rounding up the proper tools and positioning myself in the best position in which to use them. The biggest problem I had is that after completing the repair, the original problem that I was attempting to correct with the ice maker was NOT corrected. Each time a tray of ice is dumped into the ice collection basket a small amount of water is also dumped into the basket. This water then freezes. You wind up with a huge block of ice after several cycles of the ice maker completes. (I changed the ice maker in October 2016 and it worked fine until about the first of October 2018 when the latest problem started.) I would appreciate any information you could give me as to what could possibly cause the additional water that enters the ice bucket on each cycle of the ice maker.
