First off, you can do this. You really can. It is well worth it. The washer would make a screaming sound when it was filling. I ordered this part, watched a simple YouTube video, and I was done.

Common failure in Whirlpool product line.

I purchased an Amana washer a year a go. Two days after the warranty expired the inlet valve failed. This a common problem across all washer made by Whirlpool under different brands like Maytag. Whirlpool has continued to use this defective part for at least 4 years. Check Amazon to get sense of the scope. I could only find the part with correct mounting at Sears. The part arrived earlier than expected and took about 15 min. to install. Price was a little high so 4 stars but would order again if I had to or buy a washer not made by Whirlpool. After research most likley an LG.
