Lid switch WP3949238 detects if the washer lid is open or closed and prevents the washer from spinning and agitating when the lid is open.
Unplug the washer before installing this part. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.

The right part for my Kenmore series 80 washer
Fixed the issue of my Kenmore series 80 washer not advancing to rinse/spin cycle. Easy to replace, a little tricky putting washer back together. Glad I went with the OEM part and not a third party.

This part fit perfectly
This lid switch fit perfectly and solved the no drain/no spin problem with the Kenmore Series 80 washer purchased in 2021. Was easy to install although getting the case back on the frame was a bit irksome.

Not sure about how long lid switch should last
I had a repairman install the new lid switch. It has worked for two washings ,but I am not sure how long the lid switch will last. My complaint is that my previous lid switch lasted for 3 months and then broke. I always gently closed the lid and never slammed it. The repairman said that the plastic had broken. Perhaps Whirlpool could use better plastic or figure a way to have the lid switch last longer, like at least a year or more. Maybe use some metal parts where the plastic parts are most likely to break. A free installation of the new lid switch would have been welcomed after ny old lid switch had broken too soon,
