second times the charm
My second try at replacing the cable is a success. 1st time, a few years ago, the control worked backwards after I installed a new cable. This time I connected it into the correct hole on the governor, not the most likely one (should have taken a picture), and with a few fine adjustments it works like new.

Must remove both gas Tank, steering wheel and cowling to install. Not difficult.
