Skid shoe 784-5580-0637 is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part that fits snowblowers in these series: Craftsman 247; MTD 3AA, 3BA, 31A, 31B and 769; Troybilt 13A, 31A, 5524 and N779; and Yard-Man 31A.
Skid shoe 784-5580-0637 attaches next to the auger housing and slides along the ground so the snowblower can move smoothly. It also elevates the auger housing so it clears the ground, protecting it from damage. Replace both skid shoes at the same time to prevent uneven wear.
Replaces original snowblower skid shoe part numbers 784-5580 and 784-5580-0498.

Skid Shoes'too thin too expensive!
These Skid Shoes are very annoyingly under designed! They are only mild steel and not nearly thick enough. The wear out every year and cost $50 to replace the pair. At the very least they ought to be hardened steel.

Reliable Sears Craftsman Snow Thrower
Purchased Sears Craftsman 9 HP, 26" Track-Drive Snow Thrower in 1996. Gets heavy winter use in my Colorado location. Still runs well, still purchasing slide shoes from Sears Parts Direct in 2021.

Overpriced soft iron shoe
Typical soft iron shoe without any thought to weld a hardened iron bead or two across bottom so it would last longer. Overpriced and shipping for what you get.

Install skid shoe on snowtrower
Simple install two nuts off remove old worn part install new shoe attach and tighten two nuts. Done.

New parts fit well and were easy to bolt on. Old bolts needed to be cut away with an angle grinder.

snow skid shoe
It was very easy once I got the rusted and corroded carriage bolts loose and off the blower. Bolts were so rusted that I had to go to the hardware store to get new bolts to replace the existing bolts. I bought stainless steel carriage bolts so that they will not rust and get corroded, the next time skid shoes need replacement
