Motor was not exact replacement
The motor was not an easy replacement, the working space was so close. Really would have been nice to have another person. Had to completely disassemble to replace only to find out that the condenser fan side of the replacement motor was smaller shaft and the blade would not fit. Original motor had 3/8' shafts and the replacement had a 3/8' on the evaporator side and a 5/16' on the condenser side so now I'll have to order a new condenser blade to see if it will fit the 5/16' shaft. Not pleased that the manufacturer did not indicate that a new blade would be required. I used to be an appliance repairman so I do know what I'm talking about.

easy to install- yes. Motor only.
This unit is described by Sears Parts Direct website, as a "Universal" replacement. Upon searching competitors since they and every website I searched, only sold for this tired A/C unit. What was not stated, is the fact that it comes with two (2) different sized fan blade shafts sticking out of the ends. The motor I was provided, through the installation is when I noticed one of the problems. One end was a 10mm diameter shaft, and the other end, was an 8mm diameter shaft. Both existing evaporative and condensing fans, have a 10mm I.D. opening. Field intuition had to be implemented, in order to salvage this repair using a 2mm x 25mm metal alloy bushing. After the completion of installation and turning this A/C on, I immediately found the second problem- that this "Universal" replacement, is only a single speed (high cooling or heating speeds) with no ability to run with just the fan as before. The replacement provided, does not have any low speed operation ability regardless in the heating or cooling setting. Other than this, I am losing my faith in Sears Parts Direct due to this and the fact that calling their "Tech" advisor to enquire if Sears Parts Direct knew about the problem and if so, what was their recommendation. The three women I was transferred to, had no idea what I was describing, no idea where to look or whom to ask and all three were struggling to speak English language.
