GE Microwave Steam Sensor

The part itself is plug and play. Getting to it in another story. But with patience and help from YouTube University, start to finish was roughly an hour. Mine is an under the cabinet model, so taking it down was the most consuming.

The sensor was easy; the rest was NOT!

It took way too long to get the microwave out and once I got the case off the R&R of the sensor took five minutes tops. I broke the white clip like someone else did; I still don't know how to get the clip on or off. Hopefully the sensor won't vibrate loose, but if it does, I refuse to remove the microwave to do it. Take the black plastic piece off that holds the filter (above the door) and its right there in a metal box. I think it will be a whole lot easier to get the box open than take the microwave down again. The worst part was rebuilding the exhaust vent conduit, so if idiots didn't do the original installation you may not have it problem at all. Now that the Samsung microwave works as designed, it may win my wife over, but so far she's ready to replace it if we have to replace the sensor again. (We got the microwave when we bought the house and the sensor never worked. Since the microwave is so high off the ground, it's dangerous for her to pull out anything that's full and can't be tilted, so she's looking for reasons to junk the over the stove unit and put one on the small countertop.)
