Modern Maid gas cooktops deliver high-temperature cooking performance to the home kitchen. To maintain consistent temperature performance, inspect and clean your cooktop on a regular basis. If your cooktop develops a temperature problem, one of several common issues may be to blame.
Start your cooktop troubleshooting by cleaning the burner assembly. Food particles, oil and grease can build up over time, causing performance problems. First, disconnect the electricity, remove the burner grates, and detach or raise the cooktop shell. Next, disassemble the burners and all their related parts, and clean them in warm, soapy water. Finally, use a straight pin to remove obstructions from the flame ports.
Check for poor airflow
When cleaning the burners, be sure to remove food debris and other items that have fallen through the burner ports. Obstructions can reduce airflow to the cooking flames and to the air shutters on the burners. When reassembling the cooktop, make sure every part is installed and positioned correctly. Misaligned cooktop parts can also cause airflow problems.
Look for loose air shutters
Modern Maid gas burners are equipped with adjustable air shutters to regulate airflow through the burner to the cooking flame. If the lock screw on the air shutter assembly loosens, the shutter may widen or narrow, allowing the flame too much or too little air. Adjust the air shutter until the flame emerges directly from the burner port with a blue color. A flame that is yellow at the tip is receiving too little air, while a flame that rises high above the burner port is receiving too much air.
