This motor capacitor (part number 30B532) is for garage door openers.

Motor capacitor 30B532 is a start capacitor which is needed to give the motor a burst of electrical power to start the drive motor to open and close the door.

This was exactly what I needed for my 1/2 HP garage door operator. Simple plug and play. This capacitor didn't indicate positive or negative but I assumed it was interchangeable and it worked.

My door would open but would not close. It would close about 1 foot and stop. I tried to correct by adjusting the settings but nothing helped. It was very cold in the garage and I was using a 100 watt trouble lite. I noticed that the heat from the light on the capacitor would make the door operate normally. The new capacitor solved the problem. The new part was much larger than the old one but works great.
