Safety sensors aren’t installed or connected, or sensor wires are broken

Check / Repair

Inspect the safety sensor wire connections on the motor unit and reconnect any loose wires. Examine the sensor wires for damage or breaks. Repair or replace damaged wires. Replace the safety sensors if defective.

Condition

Safety sensor wires are shorted or reversed

Check / Repair

Check / Repair

Unlock the latch on the garage door if it's engaged. Check for bent door tracks or obstructions in the tracks. Pull the emergency door release to disconnect the garage door from the opener trolley. Open and close the door manually, checking for smooth door operation. Have a garage door repair technician fix the door and tracks if the door binds up on the tracks. Run the garage door opener to move the trolley back and forth along the garage door opener rail to check for binding. Replace the rail or trolley if damaged. If the garage door travels smoothly and you find no rail or trolley problems, unplug the garage door opener and check the wire connections between the logic board and the travel module. Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken wires. If the door only moves 6 to 8 inches and stops, replace the travel module. Replace the logic board if it doesn't send current to the motor when you activate the opener.
