Cleaning tips for your Kenmore warming drawer

  • Clean the warming drawer rack using a mild detergent and water. After cleaning, rinse the rack with clean water and dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth.
  • Remove the control knob and clean it thoroughly with mild soap and water. You can also wash the knob in the dishwasher. Allow the inside of the knob to dry thoroughly before reinstalling it.
  • Use warm sudsy water to clean the stainless steel front panel of the warming drawer. Wipe the surface in the direction of the stainless steel grain. Don't use a steel wool pad on the stainless steel because steel wool will scratch the stainless steel surface. Wipe the stainless steel surface with clean water and dry the surface thoroughly. Apply stainless steel cleaner to polish and protect the stainless steel surface.

Repairing damaged wires in your Kenmore warming drawer

  • Shut off the house circuit breaker for the warming drawer to completely disconnect power before accessing internal components and repairing wiring in your warming drawer.
  • Use a wiring connector that's properly rated for the size and temperature rating of the wiring that you're repairing.
  • The first step in this repair is to strip the insulation from the ends of the wire. Always use a wire stripper to strip off the insulation. Using a knife or wire cutter could be unsafe and could also damage the wire strands inside the insulation. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation off the end of the wire.
  • Place the bare end of the wire into the connector, leaving none exposed. Repeat the process for the other wire end. Squeeze the connector firmly with a crimping tool so the crimp securely grips the wire. Give the wire connector a couple of firm 'tugs" to see that it's connected and tight.
  • Reassemble the warming drawer and restore the electrical power supply to the appliance.
