Tips on adjusting cutting depth on your DeWalt router

  • Select and install the proper bit for the cut that you're making.
  • Place the router on its base and position the base on the work piece.
  • Open the depth adjustment locking lever and turn the depth adjustment ring until the bit just touches the work piece.
  • Move the adjustable scale clockwise so that 0 on the scale is positioned exactly above the base pointer.
  • Turn the depth adjustment ring along the adjustable scale to the desired depth.
  • Close the depth adjustment locking lever.

Safety tips for your DeWalt router

  • Hold the router by insulated gripping surfaces when using the router on surfaces where the cutting bit may contact hidden wiring.
  • Keep the router power cord out of the way when cutting work pieces.
  • When cutting metal, clean shavings and debris out of the router often. Metal dust and chips can build up on interior router surfaces and cause serious injury.
  • Insert the router into the router base before running the motor.
  • Keep router handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease to you can safely control the router using the handles.
  • Change cutting bits often. Don't use dull cutting bits.
