Fixed the issue
Replaced the dampers on a Samsung WA5451 top load HE washer. The old ones were fatigued (most likely due to overloading...) so almost every load would result in a DC error code and endless cycles of trying to rebalance. A little finicky getting the top off the washer due to the recall which reinforced the washer's structure as a whole (2 bolts dropped to hold the top on tightly...tough to get to!) Once replaced, the washer was back to normal. We'll be a little more conservative with load sizes going forward!

It was a struggle to remove the top.
My Samsung washer had two nuts, one on each side. You have to push the center tub over to be able to remove the nuts. Then after you release the two spring locks in the front of the washer by pushing in on them with something like a putty knife, the top will come up. Ou can't prop the top up because of the tubing & cabling on the right back side of the tub. So you have to move the top at an angle to get to the rods. You may need two people to remove the rods. When you raise the rod to remove it , the center plastic might stick in the slot. So while you lift a helper can pry out the plastic piece. It helps to lift up the center tub by grabbing it from the inside. It can be moved quite a bit. Be sure to lube the replacement with plenty of white lithium grease, top and bottom. Probably a good idea to clean out the old grease. At least on the top. Replacing these four suspension rods did correct the ( DC ) imbalance problem.

So far so good
Easy install that took less than an hour - extended only by the exuded plasticizer from the water tubing on the back right corner that made the original rod super slippery.
