Remote

The battery was dead and had to go out and buy a new one. A little tough to be happy when you spend do much for a replacement part and then still have to go out and get a battery for it to work.

Remotes Look the Same, but NOT the Same...

My home has multiple Kenmore window A/C units. Take it from one who has purchased many, many different brands of window units, Kenmore's are the absolute best. While others do their cooling function, I have found that only Kenmore took the time to design a QUIETER window unit. I have lost many a nights sleep from rattling plastic parts from other A/C manufacturers. Now, about the replacement remote; it looks exactly the same but apparently they no longer control the older (by older I mean older than 2 years) Kenmore window A/C units. I've tried on 3 occasions to replace these remotes but I believe the new remotes are programmed using a different frequency or data set. I have verified that the replacement remotes are "functional" and also verified that the A/C units still respond to the "older" remotes. It's just that they don't respond to the new replacement remote.

I questioned the Sears Chat Rep about this before committing to purchase and the possibility of product return and was assured there would be no problem returning. After verifying that they did not function with my A/C units I contacted Sears and I'm happy to report they immediately sent a return authorization.
