This idler extension spring keeps proper tension on the idler pulley so the drive belt stays engaged and the snowblower moves smoothly during operation.
If the snowblower hesitates, the belt slips or the drive feels weak, the spring may be stretched or worn and no longer providing the correct tension.
Disconnect the spark plug wire before beginning the repair. Wear work gloves when working near pulley systems and spring-loaded components.
