Troubleshooting common Ariston dryer issues
Ariston dryers are built with reliable performance and safety in mind, but over time, parts wear out. If your dryer is completely unresponsive or won’t start, here’s how to track down the problem.
Dryer won’t power on or respond
If your Ariston dryer shows no signs of power (no lights, no drum movement, no display) start by checking your home’s circuit breaker and reset it if necessary. If you're using a gas dryer, plug a small lamp or appliance into the same outlet to verify it’s delivering power.
When the outlet works but the dryer still doesn’t start, you may be dealing with a failed timer, broken power cord, or faulty electronic control board. Our guide to troubleshooting an electric dryer that won't start covers the steps to help isolate the issue. For gas models, use our gas dryer won't start troubleshooting video for help.
If you need to test continuity on dryer parts like the door switch or thermal fuse, refer to our how to use a multimeter guide to get accurate results.
Commonly replaced Ariston dryer parts
- Heating element – Generates heat in electric dryers. Replace it if it doesn’t heat or is visibly broken.
- Door switch – Prevents the dryer from running when the door is open. Replace it if the dryer operates with the door open or doesn't respond when the door is closed.
- Drive motor – Turns the drum during the cycle. Replace the motor if it’s not running when energized.
