Common Inglis dishwasher repairs
A few issues are more common over the life of your dishwasher. Here’s how to spot them—and what you can do to fix them.
When dishes don't get dry
Plastic items are notorious for holding onto water droplets, but if even your glass and metal items aren’t drying, it’s time to investigate. Start by keeping the rinse-aid dispenser filled, since rinse aid helps water run off dishes for better drying. Replace the dispenser assembly if it’s not releasing rinse aid properly.
If you’ve already selected the heated dry option and dishes are still wet, you may need to replace the heating element or check the high-limit thermostat. A faulty vent or drying fan could also be the cause. Watch our dishwasher not drying dishes video for step-by-step troubleshooting.
Finding and fixing a leak
Leaks from the bottom of the door can be caused by a stuck or damaged spray arm creating excess wave action inside the tub. Inspect the spray arms for damage and make sure they spin freely. You might also need to replace the door seal or repair a loose hinge.
If water is pooling underneath the dishwasher, check for a leaking drain line, a faulty heating element seal, or a damaged pump and motor assembly. For more tips, watch our dishwasher leaks troubleshooting video.

Inglis dishwasher FAQs
How do I find the right part for my dishwasher?
Locate the model number on the inside edge of the door or tub. Enter it into our illustrated parts list to view diagrams showing every component, making it easy to identify exactly what you need for a repair.
Why does my dishwasher smell bad?
Odors come from trapped food particles or standing water. Clean the filter, spray arms, and door gasket, and run a hot cycle with vinegar or dishwasher cleaner to eliminate smells.
Why does my dishwasher run too long?
Faulty sensors, a clogged filter, or a malfunctioning control board can extend cycle times. Cleaning the filter and testing sensors can restore normal operation.
How often should I clean the dishwasher filter?
Clean the filter once a month or more often if you run frequent loads. This helps maintain water flow and prevents odors.
Why is water pooling in the bottom of my Inglis dishwasher?
If water remains after draining, the drain hose could be kinked or the pump impeller blocked. Clearing the obstruction restores proper drainage.
