Safety tips to follow when using your Porter Cable miter saw

  • Keep your work area clean and uncluttered to prevent accidents. Work in a well-lit area so you can clearly see the miter saw blade and work piece when making cuts.
  • Don't operate the miter saw around flammable liquids, gasses or dust. The miter saw produces sparks, which can ignite dust, liquids or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away from the work area when cutting work pieces. Flying debris can cause injury to children or bystanders and distractions can cause you to lose control of the saw.
  • Wear work gloves to protect your hands and eye protection to prevent eye injury when operating the miter saw.

Replacing the motor brushes in your Porter Cable miter saw

  • Unplug the miter saw power cord from the electrical wall outlet to disconnect electrical power.
  • Remove the brush caps using a screwdriver. The brush assemblies are spring loaded so the brushes will pop out once you remove the brush caps.
  • Insert the new brush assemblies into the motor and reinstall the brush caps.
  • Restore power to the miter saw.
