Replacing oven door hinges in your Hotpoint electric wall oven
- Fully open the oven door. Use a slot screwdriver to pry down the locking tabs to the unlocked position on both sides of the door. Raise the door to the broil stop position, which is about 1/4 open. Grip both sides of the oven door and then lift up and out to remove the door.
- Carefully place the oven door face down on a padded surface, such as a towel-covered table. Using the type of screwdriver that fits the screws, remove the screws that secure the door handle to the top of the oven door. Remove the handle.
- Remove the screws at the bottom of the oven door. Lift the inner door panel assembly off the outer door panel and set it on the padded surface.
- Remove the 2 screws on the inner oven door panel that secure each door hinge in place. Pull the hinges up and out of the inner door panel.
- Position the new door hinges in place in the inner door panel assembly. Insert the screws in the new door hinges and tighten the screws firmly.
- Reassemble the door and reinstall the door on the oven.
Troubleshooting tips for your Hotpoint electric wall oven when it won't broil
Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven and check the broil element for cracks or damage. Replace the broil element if you see physical damage such as a broken or cracked element.
If the broil element is okay, then check the main electronic control board and the relay control board for burn marks that indicate a circuit board failure. You'll likely need to replace a control board if it has burn marks indicating a failed circuit board component.
Check all wiring connections (with power still disconnected from the oven). Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken wires.
