How to replace a skid shoe on your Noma gas snowblower

  • Pull the wire straight up and off of the spark plug.
  • Loosen and remove skid shoe mounting nuts. Pull the skid shoe off of the housing.
  • Position the new skid shoe on the mounting bolts and finger tighten the nuts.
  • Place corrugated cardboard under the scraper blade to hold the blade about ¼-inch off the ground. Lower the skid shoe so that it contacts the ground. Tighten the mounting nuts with the ½-inch wrench.
  • Push the wire back onto the spark plug. Start the engine and confirm that the skid shoes keep the blade slightly off the ground.

Replacing an electric starter motor on a Noma gas snowblower engine

  • Pull the spark plug wire straight up and off the plug.
  • Remove the two screws that secure the switch box to the engine. Pull the switch box away from the engine and let it hang by the power cord going to the starter motor. Remove the two starter motor mounting screws and pull the starter motor off the engine.
  • Position the new starter motor on the engine and reinstall the mounting screws. Tighten the mounting screws to 53- to 71-inch-pounds using a torque wrench. Position the switch box on the bracket and reinstall the mounting screws.
  • Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
