Maintenance tips for your Eureka upright vacuum cleaner
Empty the dirt container as needed when vacuuming so the container doesn't get overfilled with dirt and lint.
Periodically clean the dirt container thoroughly. Remove the lower portion of the dirt container by pressing down on the front latch on the upper portion of the container. Clean the screen with a cloth or soft brush to remove dust and debris from the screen. Wash the lower dirt container with warm water. Allow the lower dirt container to dry completely before reassembling the vacuum.
To reassemble the dirt container, hold the carry handle and position the upper portion of the dirt container into the lower portion. Line up the front and back latches. Push down on the upper portion of the container until both latches click into place. Reinstall the dirt container on the vacuum cleaner.
Clean the pre-motor filter monthly. Open the filter cover and remove the pre-motor filter. Remove the filter and wash it with water. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstalling it. Reinstall the filter and close the filter cover.
How to fix your Eureka upright vacuum when the red dirt sensor light stays on constantly
When the dirt sensor lights stays red constantly, dirty sensor eyes or a failed dirt sensor control board could be causing the problem.
Unplug the vacuum cleaner and clean the sensor eyes using a soft, dry cloth. Don't use cleaners or liquids as they can help speed the recoating of the sensor eyes, making it necessary to clean them much sooner than normal.
If the dirt sensor lights stays red constantly after cleaning the sensor eyes, you may need to replace the dirt sensor control board because the board may not be detecting sensor eye dirt signals correctly.
