This idler arm spring keeps the idler pulley pressed against the auger drive belt, helping the belt stay engaged and transfer power smoothly.
If the auger hesitates, the belt slips or you hear squealing from the drive area, a stretched or weakened idler arm spring may be the cause.
Disconnect the spark plug wire before beginning the repair. Wear work gloves when working around belt and pulley components.
