Pro-Form 400e CrossWalk Treadmill Roller Success
January 18, 2023

Sears Pro-Form 400e CrossWalk Treadmill - purchased in 2005. Was used on and off over the years (you know how it is). Recently began a personal improvement program so dusted the cobwebs off of it. After a couple of uses, the rear roller's bearing started seizing up - a little oil would buy a few days, but after a while even that wouldn't help. Was considering junking the treadmill assuming that it just wouldn't be possible that parts would still be available. Wonderful world of the internet proved that assumption wrong. Took about 12 days for it to be shipped and arrived shortly after that. Replacement was a breeze (had to find the screws hidden under the "label" on each side rail). Appreciated the tip to wrap a piece of tape around the tensioning screw before removal, to help with the re-tensioning with the replacement roller. There was a "warning" about which way to face the "bevel" (countersink) on the axle - - but the roller I received had the bevel on both sides, so there was no way to install it incorrectly. I always appreciated the quality and customer service Sears stood for - - now even after their stores have left Iowa. I wish they were still here.

Differences in diameter and bolt hole size from235715 original. Now waiting for replacement bolts to complete installation. Should be relatively easy except for tensioning of belt.

Relatively easy to install

Instructions were somewhat adequate. One comment: the instructions indicate that the bevel side of the roller shaft should face away from the treadmill. My new shaft had a bevel on both sides of the hole. After I removed the old roller/shaft I could see that there was only one bevel facing away from the treadmill. This resulted in minor confusion. First tip: the instructions said to count the turns when removing the screw holding the shaft. First I measured the distance from the back end of treadmill to the shaft. Then I a cut a thin strip of masking tape, wrapped it around the screw but butted it against the shaft to mark the exact location of the threads. So when re-tightening the screw I just tightened it until the tape hit the shaft. Perfect. Second tip. Mark the sides of the belt using a white pencil along the treadmill's running board so when replacing the belt one can re-align it exactly back to its original position.
