Stepper console. The stepper console displays the speed, distance traveled, elapsed time and other user data and is powered by a battery. The console also controls stepper pedal resistance.
Crank arm. The crank arm spins the crank arm pulley, which rotates the drive belt to spin the flywheel.
Flywheel. The flywheel spins next to the C-magnet and provides pedal resistance as it disrupts the magnetic field of the C-magnet.
C-magnet. The C-magnet surrounds a portion of the flywheel and creates variable resistance to the flywheel. The closer the C-magnet sits to the flywheel, the greater the flywheel resistance.
What to do when the console won't power up on your Nordictrack stepper
Dead batteries, a failed power supply, bad electrical connections or a faulty console can prevent the stepper console from turning on. If your stepper is powered by batteries, change the batteries to fix a dead console. Replace the batteries during routine stepper maintenance to keep the console powered up. If the console doesn't light up after replacing the batteries, you'll likely need to replace the console.
If your stepper uses an electrical outlet for the power supply, unplug the stepper and check the power cord. Reconnect power cord wires if disconnected. Replace the power cord if it's damaged. If the power cord is intact and properly connected to the console, then you'll probably need to replace the console.
