How to fix your Modern Maid electric wall oven when it won't bake

A failed control thermostat can prevent the oven from baking on a wall oven that uses dials for the oven controls. On a wall oven with a digital display, a failed electronic control board or relay control board may keep the oven from working. A bad temperature sensor probe will also prevent the oven from heating. A broken bake element in an electric oven or a failed igniter in a gas oven can also cause a heating failure. For more troubleshooting tips, watch our electric wall oven won't heat video to figure out how to fix the problem.

How to fix your Modern Maid electric wall oven when it won't broil

  1. Shut off the house circuit breakers for the oven and check the broil element for cracks or damage.
  2. Replace the broil element if you see physical damage such as a broken or cracked element.
  3. If the broil element is okay, then check the main electronic control board and the relay control board for burn marks that indicate a circuit board failure. You'll likely need to replace a control board if it has burn marks indicating a failed circuit board component.
  4. Check all wiring connections (with power still disconnected from the oven). Reconnect any loose wires and repair any broken wires.
