How to replace the temperature control thermostat on a GMC wall heater
- Unplug the heater power cord or shut off the house circuit breaker for the heater to disconnect electrical power. Wear work gloves to protect your hands during the repair.
- Remove the temperature control knob from the temperature control thermostat stem.
- Remove the front grille cover from the heater.
- Remove the temperature control thermostat mounting screws and pull the thermostat out slightly.
- Disconnect the wires from the temperature control thermostat and pull the thermostat out.
- Connect the wires to the new thermostat and mount the new thermostat in the heater.
- Reassemble the wall heater and restore electrical power by plugging in the power cord or resetting the house circuit breaker.
GMC wall heater common replacement parts
- Control thermostat. The control thermostat senses room temperature and cycles the heater on and off to maintain the set temperature in the room.
- Power cord. The power cord supplies electrical current to the heater switch and other electrical components in the heater.
- Fan motor. The fan motor spins the fan blade to circulate hot air through the room.
- Power switch. The power switch turns the heater on and off and supplies electrical current to the thermostat to control heating.
