Safety precautions to take when using your Homelite electric line trimmer

  • Dress properly when using the line trimmer. Wear thick pants and heavy shoes or boots to prevent cuts on legs and feet caused by flying debris.
  • Always wear safety glasses or similar eye protection when operating, or performing maintenance on your line trimmer to prevent eye injury.
  • Inspect the line trimmer before each use. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any worn or damaged parts.
  • Check the power cord and extension cord for damage. Repair or replace the power cord or extension cord if damaged.

Installing cutting line on your Homelite electric line trimmer

  • Unplug the line trimmer power cord before installing cutting line.
  • Hold the cutting spool stationary and unscrew then remove the spool cap and line spool.
  • Cut a length of 25-feet of replacement cutting line.
  • Insert one end of the cutting line into the center holder of the spool. Wrap the cutting line onto the spool in the direction indicated on the spool. Leave 4-6 inches of line unwound to thread through the cutting head.
  • Clean grass and debris from the spool and cutting head then thread the line through the cutting head and install the spool. Reinstall the spool cap.
