• Unplug the fan or shut off the house circuit breaker for the fan to disconnect electrical power.
• With the fan switch turned on, check for electrical resistance through the power switch leads using your multimeter. Your meter should measure near 0 ohms of resistance through the power switch leads if switch contacts are allowing current to flow to the fan motor when the switch is turned on. Replace the fan switch if your meter measures infinite resistance (no continuity) through the fan power switch.
• Turn the fan power switch off and check for continuity through the fan switch leads. The meter should measure infinite resistance with the switch turned off.
