Troubleshooting your Thermador range/microwave combo when the oven won't heat

  • Confirm the power supply. Make sure that you have 240 volts of power going to the range. Check both house circuit breakers for the range and reset any tripped breaker.
  • Unplug the range and check the bake element. Replace the bake element if it's visibly broken or damaged.
  • Remove the upper back panel. Unplug the element wires from the electronic control board. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance through the yellow and orange wires that go to the bake element. Your meter should read about 16 ohms of resistance through that circuit. If your meter measures around 16 ohms of resistance, then the bake element circuit is okay. Now, if you read no continuity, when you checked the bake element from the control board, then you probably have a broken bake element or a wiring failure in that circuit. Check the resistance of the bake element directly at the element terminal ends. If your meter reads "OL," replace the bake element. This video will show you how.

How to replace the oven temperature sensor in your Thermador range/microwave combo

  • Shut off electrical power to the range.
  • Remove the oven racks.
  • Remove the screws from the base of the temperature sensor probe.
  • Carefully pull the oven temperature sensor probe forward into the oven interior. The wires connected to the probe have enough slack that you can pull it a just few inches. Holding the connector with needle-nose pliers, depress the locking tab on the plug and disconnect the plug from the sensor probe. Don't let the connector slip back through the hole, or you must remove the back panel of the oven to retrieve it.
  • While holding the connector with a pair of needle-nose pliers, snap it into the plug of the new probe. Push the wire into back wall of the oven. Position the new sensor probe and line up the holes for the mounting screws. Insert the mounting screws and tighten firmly using a nut driver.
  • Reinstall the oven racks and restore electrical power to the range.
