McClane Lawn mower Parts — Browse All Models

Walk-behind lawn mowers are often smaller than riding mowers but still pack a punch when keeping your lawn under control. Regular use can affect how effectively the mower uses fuel, causing the machine to run more slowly and use more fuel than necessary. These simple tune-up tips can improve fuel efficiency and keep your mower running smoothly.

Clean the air filter

While the lawn mower is off, remove the air filter for cleaning. Tap paper filters on a surface, such as the edge of the porch or a shed, to remove excess debris. Foam filters can be cleaned with soap and water. Make sure any lawn mower parts, including filters, are dry before being returned to their places. After 100 hours of use, replace your filter.

Change the oil

To use this lawn mower repair help tip, you must first remove the spark plug. Once this is removed, completely drain the mower of oil, using a container to catch the old oil for proper disposal later. Check the manual for your mower to find the correct oil, and then refill the oil tank, reinsert the spark plug and continue as normal.

Scrape away buildup

Inspect the underside of your mower, including blades and protective parts, for built-up dirt, grass and other debris. This debris can impact how effective your blades are and make the machine work harder, so carefully scrape away as much buildup as possible. Make sure your mower is safely off before performing this maintenance.
