This ice maker and auger motor assembly (part number 4681JA1006D) is for refrigerators.
Ice maker and auger motor assembly 4681JA1006D contains the complete ice maker and auger motor contained on a mounting bracket.
The ice maker and auger motor assembly mounting bracket has been redesigned. To install the new ice maker and auger motor, also order bracket part number MEG62543401. Remove the old assembly and install bracket MEG62543401 at the top of the door using the original upper screws. Slide the top of the new auger motor assembly into the bracket, then install the lower screws through the auger motor mounting bracket.
Safely store any food that could deteriorate while the power is off and unplug the refrigerator when installing this part. Wear work gloves to protect your hands.

Why didn't I buy this sooner?

I've been purchasing bags of ice for years worried it would be hard to find a replacement and the expense, but it was well worth it! Easy to install, and yes, had to screw in an additional screw where the old one was. Once installed, turned on and it made ice quickly! Had it for a few weeks now, and couldn't be happier. More room in my freezer without a bag of ice! Figure over time, it's a good investment since the refrigerator is still working well.

Ice maker replacement for Kenmore Elite

It was not exactly like the old ice maker, but the electrical connections were the same and it did fit. I drilled a few holes to make sure it was secure. I did not get instructions so I could not get it to work, until I went on U-tube to see how to reset it. Just hold the size button on the side for 10 seconds to activate it. I did that an it now works perfectly

Much better design

No more freezing up or randomly overflowing the ice bin! However, the dispenser is still lacking. Sometimes seems like it can't break up the ice in the bin. Have to drill a couple of new holes and you also need to buy the mounting bracket adapter.

Install was easier with 2 people. Very simple though, 2 plugs and 3 screws and it was in. Although i did have to drill a hole for the top screw to go through.

Different, Better, but need to adapt mounts

The replacement item was slightly different from the original since it looked almost the same bbut lacked three mounting screw positions. I had to drill three holes to mount it and also use a longer screw than original in one of those mount holes. The new part seems updated and works great. I belive they corrected problems with the older design.

Minor modifications to install, but works well

Took about 30 minutes to install. Had to drill a missing hole in top right corner. The replacement unit is better engineered than the original, though. The original either wouldn't make ice or wouldn't stop making ice - feast or famine. The new unit works as it should: fills the reservoir and then stops.
