As this was actually the third time having to re install this part, it was very very simple. Took about 20minutes tops.

It was not hard to install for those with mechanical prowess. Took me about 40 minutes. I was extra careful to make sure this was going to work.

Dry Towels Again! (cue Happy Dance Video montage)

Following Some severe Thunderstorm activity, fuses were tripped at the electrical panel in the basement. Dryer & A/C unit went off line. HVAC repairman showed me a blown capacitor the size of a pop can. The 2 units are on the inside/outside of first floor east house wall. Washing machine plugged into same receptacle was OK. Other A/C unit 6 inches away was OK. Lightning strike was our best guess. Sears Home Repair Service subcontracts to a repair service that came out on a Sunday at no extra charge. Very experienced and professional. Diagnosed the problem as a faulty Dryer Control Panel and gave a printed repair estimate that included cost of the panel. Panel likely got toasted at the time of the lightening strike. The other electrical panel on the left side of the dryer was intact and operable. But, no visible char, broken or toasted pins, cracks on either of the the two computer circuit boards of this module could be seen. They would need to return later for final repair, once parts arrived. I wanted to try it myself. So I ordered the part at Sears Parts Direct and it arrived a week later. Express delivery really wasn't necessary for the extra cost. On-line chat verified proper replacement for my Black Sear Kenmore HE4 unit was exactly as #part on my written estimate. Once it arrived, I verified that it was an exact replacement. There is a little block that plugs into the circuit board that has an unknown (to me) function. It does not seem to be a fuse. I checked in case the problem could be solved for a dime or two. I plugged it in just like in my original panel board circuitry and that part alone did not fix my old panel. Installation took 5 minutes and 1/4" ratchet wrench. It takes a little longer to attach the exhaust (natural gas power) port to the vent tubing in the back while pushing the whole unit and lying in the floor to line things up in back. Two people would have been helpful here.

Install, quite easy.

Aside from the fact that the item didn't match the failed part,(the color) the first time i used it, it did the same thing the part I removed: it allowed the end of the drying cycle tone to go haywire! In frustration I smacked the panel, and so far all is well
