Even a new part is not always defect free.

This item is not hard to install if you have some basis mechanical knowledge and the approximate wrenches. I had to remove this assembly twice because the pilot light would not light once assembled. There was apparently an obstruction in the gas line. Once I blew out the line with an air compressor, it would light. I then had trouble with a small gas leak on one of the fittings that required teflon tape in order to seal it properly. I have working knowledge in dealing with the mentioned problems and was able to work through them. I received a less than perfect part.
