Drive cable 946-04008 connects the motion control lever to the drive system in MTD snowblowers. It replaces part number 746-04008.
If the snowblower won t move forward, loses drive power, or the control lever feels unresponsive, the cable may be stretched, frayed, or broken. Replacing it can restore full drive function and reliable snow clearing.
Disconnect the spark plug before starting. Use a screwdriver and pliers to remove the old cable and attach the new one securely, making sure all connections are tight and properly routed.

Arrived as promised. Perfect replacement
So what do you do when your snowblower drive cable snaps? You order a replacement and have it express shipped for fear that if you don't, a major snow storm will come. Well, the cable arrived as promised with the express ship. There were no instructions, but plenty of similar Youtube videos to get the idea of how to install. The most time consuming part was the removal of the old cable sheath, which had a plastic snap-fit under the deck. No easy way to release it or get to it. I ended up taking a wood chisel and shearing off the plastic snap. Took about 5 minutes for that. The actual installation took just a few more minutes.

DIFFICULT TO INSTALL
The black end snaps into place however can not remove 1st one to install new. Otherwise it would be easy.
